"Positions of responsibility"

Since I don't seem to have the time to REALLY sit down and write about my trips to London and Stockholm, I'll tell you a little bit about me. For the past three years I've been in the board of a photo club called Pictura vid Åbo Akademi (our homepage is under construction).

Pictura is a small, but intensely growing club and it's for the students and workers at the (Swedish University=) Åbo Akademi University in Turku (which is 'Åbo' in Swedish:). I've had the honor to be their Excursions Manager 2009-2011. The longer trips I've organized (for 8-20 persons) are:

- Utö lighthouse (in the Achipelago) 2009
- Copenhagen 2010
- Stockholm 2010
- Tallinn 2011
- Stockholm 2011
(also involved in the upcoming: Oslo 2012)

I've found it extremely interesting to organize trips with Pictura! This last one to STHM had the largest amount of participants we've had so far: we were in total 19 photo enthusiasts going to STHM photo fair!

Now my time with Pictura has come to an end, it's time to give away my position to someone younger. THANK YOU PICTURA FOR EVERYTHING! <3

Summer adventures vol.4: Foo Fighters in Helsinki

Ah the memories, the memories!
This summer went by fast, so it's nice to remind oneself of what fun things I had the opportunity to experience. One of the fun things was taking a road trip to Helsinki with Päivi, my best friend. We went to the Foo Fighters concert.

I don't know why I wanted to go see the Foo Fighters but maybe it was because I thought there'd be great music (no, I'm not a huuuuge fan, just a regular radio listening fan) and as a bonus - some good-looking rocker guys!;)

System cameras were not allowed, so I brought my old digital camera. And, as usual, I tend to do stuff too late, so I forgot to charge the energy consuming batteries and so they ran out before (yes, two sets of batteries!) I could even take one picture of the band!

But for your consolation, here are two rockin' chicks!;)

Rock rock.

"Why am I not a rock star? I've got the looks!"

Winter in Turku

This winter has been exceptionally cold and we've had a lot of snow in Turku. Now the snow is slowly melting, but I'm afraid the whole of Finland will bee flooded and float away with the masses of water!:/

People have to pass this way on their way to the University.
Good luck with that then...

(oh, and did you notice that not all of the snow has melt yet?)
Despite the vast amounts of snow, I've been cycling all year round, all around Turku - and that's because I don't have a car. But alas! Today I noticed that my bike was in a pretty bad shape: the back wheel was wobbly. I made it to work, then to another work place, then to the bike shop - only to find the shop was closed for winter!>:(    - and then to another bike repair shop to leave my poor bike there. Phew. I was pretty mad. This was not the best week for the bike to be broken...

For the time being (a week or so) I will have to get around with this (see photo).
Meet my second bike AKA the bike I forgot to take with me when I moved to my new apartment in November...

Lonely, sad and forgotten.

Trips to come in Finland

This weekend I'm going to Tampere: it will be a "surprise" trip to celebrate my birthday. I don't know what's coming, but I'm guessing we'll have a blast with the girls!:) We'll probably visit some museum(s?), have dinner, check out the nightlife and after that crash in our beds at Holiday Inn.

I've also booked a flight with AirBaltic to fly to Oulu in March to visit my sister. I still can't understand how flying actually can be cheaper (37€) than a train (+70€)...

Here's a collection of my bonus cards. These are travel related, I have so many other bonus cards to regular shops, that I'm virtually known as "The Bonus Girl":)

Air Baltic, Finnari Plus, 1st Floor (=Scandic Hotels),
Viking Club, Club One (=Tallink Silja), SAS Eurobonus...
